Charolles is the historical capital of the Charolais country. It is a town with 3125 inhabitants and covers an area of 1998 hectares. Charolles is located in the southwest of the Saône-et-Loire department, of which it is the sub-prefecture, in the beautiful region of Burgundy, on the route of the Central Europe Atlantic Road between Macon and Moulins.
The nearest railway stations are Paray-le-Monial, which is 12 kilometers away, or the Le Creusot TGV station.
Charolles is situated on the N79, an international route belonging to the Central Europe Atlantic Road (RCEA). The RCEA provides easy access to the A6 highway at Macon (60 kilometers away) or Chalon-sur-Saône (80 kilometers away), as well as the A7 highway at Moulins (80 kilometers away). Charolles is a 1.5-hour drive from Lyon or Dijon and a 4-hour drive from Paris.
